Reiji Maruyama is a Japanese freelance music journalist and photographer based in Duesseldorf, Germany. He was born in 1958 in Yamanashi, Japan.
In 1981 graduated from Nihon university with a degree in Industrial Engineering. The following year he joined the Japanese electric guitar company ESP Co. Ltd. in Tokyo working in both retail division and repair workshop. In 1985 moved to Germany as managing director ESP Europe and held this post for ten years. Resigned from ESP Co. Ltd. in 1995 to pursue a new career in freelance music journalism and photography.
